Welcome!
The Global MIT At-Risk Fellows Program (GMAF) is a semester-long, residential fellowship at MIT to be held in spring 2026 (February-May). Applicants should be scholars who hold a PhD (or equivalent degree). They should also be either currently or recently teaching at Ukrainian universities or conducting research with Ukraine's Academy of Sciences. Individuals who held positions at these institutions at the time of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, including those who are temporarily residing and/or working in other countries at the moment, are eligible to apply. If you are eligible to apply based on the above criteria, please continue reading.
GMAF applications for the 2025-2026 academic year must be submitted online through this system. If this is your first time visiting this registration web page, please click the blue "Register" button at the top right and create a SurveyMonkey Apply account. When creating an account make sure to choose "Global MIT At-Risk Fellows - Ukraine" in the "Applicant Type" field. The email address and password you use to register will be used throughout the application process. At any point before the deadline, you will be able to save your work and log back in at a later date to continue from where you left off. If you already have an account and you would like to continue your application, click the "Log In" button above, enter your account information, and resume your application. After you submit your application, you will receive an automated email acknowledging your submission; please note, if you do not receive such an acknowledgement, your application has not been properly submitted, and you need to return to your application to submit.
All applications must be written by the candidates themselves. No essays generated by ChatGPT or other artificial machine learning source will be deemed acceptable. Semi-finalists will also be requested to upload a 1-minute video explaining their research and teaching interests. At the final stage, the GMAF-Ukraine faculty committee will hold half-hour interviews with the finalist candidates. Final decisions will be announced to the finalists in early June 2025.
If you have further questions about the application or this system, please contact MIT-Ukraine@mit.edu.
